About Us

The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), founded in 1918, is one of the oldest voluntary organizations in Canada. The Prince Edward Island Division joined in 1959.

Our vision is “Mental Health for All”. Our mission nationally is to facilitate access to the resources people require to maintain and improve mental health and community integration, build resilience, and support recovery from mental illness. Our goal in PEI is to be THE key partner in strengthening and enhancing Islanders’ ability to achieve and maintain positive mental health.

CMHA – PEI Division has over 150 volunteers and 50+ support staff providing programs, education and information, research, advocacy and social policy development to achieve the above goal of mental health for all Islanders. We have offices, programming space and housing units in Charlottetown, Summerside and Alberton. Working with the provincial government and communities in Kings County to assess mental health needs is a priority in our current CMHA-PEI Strategic Plan.
