No one has to face cancer alone.
The Canadian Cancer Society - PEI Division is here to offer local emotional and financial support programs and information services to those facing a cancer journey.
If you need help getting to cancer treatment, someone to talk to about living with cancer, or a friendly face to ease the loneliness of waiting at a cancer centre or lodge, our community services volunteers can help. The Canadian Cancer Society is a national, community-based organizations of volunteers whose mission is the eradication of cancer and the enhancement of the quality of life of people living with cancer.
The kindness of donors and volunteers right here on the Island has allowed the Canadian Cancer Society - PEI Division to accomplish the following (in 2016):
Harbored 15 clinical trials right here on PEI
Supported 1,056 Islanders and their families
Provided $47,859 in financial aid to 96 families
Advocated for a ban on flavoured tobacco, and a province wide cancer control
strategy to better serve Islanders
9 Islanders stayed at the Lodge that Gives for 160 nights!
6 Islander children living with cancer went to Camp Goodtime in Nova Scotia to join kids just like them
980 Islanders received wigs, care packages or visits from a cancer survivor. 174 people received emotional support
Over 7,000 Islanders received prevention education.
