Small businesses may not be aware of their obligations under Canada's federal private sector privacy law or the key steps to protecting the privacy of customers. This puts them at risk of non-compliance and data breaches.
Consumers are increasingly concerned with how businesses are safeguarding their information. Research shows Canadians are less likely now to believe that businesses are taking their privacy obligations seriously than they were nine years ago.
