In the fall of 2012, Transport Canada's Air Cargo Security Program conducted face-to-face consultations as part of the process to amend air cargo security regulations that will affect members of Canada's air cargo industry. This includes shippers of cargo and other cargo operators handling cargo intended for uplift by a passenger air craft.
You are invited to an information session that will provide an update on these pending regulatory changes and place them in the broader context of the Air Cargo Security Program's other Program and stakeholder activities.
These changes will require 100% screening of cargo being transported by passenger air craft. The amendments will also permit shippers (the consignor or originator of the goods) to screen and tender their own goods as secure cargo to either freight forwarders that are members of the Air Cargo Security Program or directly to air carriers.
These changes will affect:
* Businesses that ship their goods by air;
* Businesses that handle or want to handle secure air cargo (e.g., trucking companies, warehouse operators).
