The pace of change in the employee benefits arena over the past 24 months has been staggering. We have witnessed significant advances in technology and innovation as it relates to the plan member experience and the need to communicate more effectively with plan stakeholders has never been more important as the drug plan and pharmacy landscapes continues to evolve through legislative change and shifting business models. And while health care cost trends have been relatively calm “now” is the time to rethink benefits philosophy and ensure strategies are in place for future sustainability. And if those reasons are not enough to convince Plan Sponsors to revisit their strategy then the release earlier this year of the Psychological Health & Safety standards for creating mentally healthy workplaces may just be the catalyst to encourage change. In this session we are going to talk about employers top concerns, what the industry, pharma and governments are doing to mitigate their risks and costs and what you should be thinking about doing to manage your benefit programs.
Session 2 - Attendance Management
Speaker: Alex Boucher, Medavie Blue Cross
What makes people come to work? Why do some employees miss work, and other employees attend regularly? What value do medical certificates bring and what do you have to accommodate? Despite improvements in medical treatments, recovery times, and treatment options, workplace absence and disability continue to be significant concerns. In many cases, absence rates continue to rise. Can something be done to keep employees at work? An introduction to the drivers of absence and disability and a discussion on where to start in addressing these important issues and bringing them under control.
